About Us
The Florida Sentinel Bulletin has been publishing for over 74 years and is the Sunshine State’s oldest and largest African American newspaper. The Sentinel was able to sustain its ability to deliver vital information, to the community because it owned a printing press that publishes on Tuesday and Friday without interruption. This was particularly important during the early years because it prohibited the shut down of the paper by those who wanted to silence the calls for justice. The circulation rivals majority newspapers with editions of 24-60 pages and circulations exceeding 45,000 in Pinellas, Hillsborough, and Polk counties. The Florida Sentinel Bulletin continues truth-telling through provocative editorials, columns, features and news stories that have have helped improve the quality of life in Tampa Bay and Central Florida for more than 7 decades.
